Dean Gazeley Picco was born on Vancouver Island in 1960. He received his formal training in naturalistic painting at the Emily Carr University of Art + Design and at the Ecole Albert Defois in Anjou, France in the atelier of  Ted Seth Jacobs.

Gazeley is a professional painter and portraitist, an instructor of drawing and painting for over two decades, and an invited adjudicator in state-wide and national art competitions. He has presented his work in over 35 exhibitions in Canada, the US, Mexico and France. his work has been the subject of solo exhibitions in some of the most prestigious venues in Mexico, including the Museo Casa Diego Rivera, the Hospicio Cabañas, and the Festival Internacional Cervantino, as well as in galleries in Monterrey, Mexico City, and Puerta Vallarta.  His work is enjoyed in public and private collections in Canada, France, Korea, the United States, and Mexico. 

Gazeley has been a full-time resident of Guanajuato since 1996 and is a naturalized Mexican.
